Before you start
- Check the weather: The mountains of Souli can experience sudden weather changes. Do not set off if severe thunderstorms or extreme heat are forecast..
- Appropriate equipment: Always wear closed hiking shoes or boots, not regular trainers or sandals. Bring a hat, sunscreen, and a lightweight windproof/waterproof jacket.
- Water and energy: Make sure to carry at least 1.5 liters of water per person as well as a few high-energy snacks such as sesame bars, nuts or fruit. Do not rely on water springs during the summer months.
- Inform someone: Before setting off, let your guesthouse or someone close to you know which trail you plan to follow and your estimated return time.
- Study the map: Take a little time to check your map, so you can understand the route layout and the distances of the trails.
